Spaghetti

The spaghetti that I made today turned out pretty good (although I added a bit too much salt to the pasta ToT) so I thought I'd write down some notes that I can come back to next time.

Sauce:

  1.  Heat up oil in a saute pan
  2. Add 2.5 tablespoons of brown sugar to the heated pan and wait until the sugar turns golden brown. If you overcook the sugar it'll turn bitter.
  3. Saute onions and garlic (onions before garlic because they take longer to cook) until you can smell the aroma of the onions and they turn translucent
  4. Add the ground beef at medium low heat and mash it thoroughly while cooking to make sure that it turns out soft and moist
  5. Add two tablespoons of soy sauce
  6. Add mushrooms and other vegetables over low heat
  7. Drain oil from pan. Add store-bought spaghetti sauce

Pasta:

  1. Boil water in a large pot
  2. Add pasta and salt (see below)
  3. Test the firmness of the pasta periodically to assess completeness (aldente = a little firm)
  4. Once the pasta is done cooking, drain and douse with cold water to stop the cooking
