Spaghetti
The spaghetti that I made today turned out pretty good (although I added a bit too much salt to the pasta ToT) so I thought I'd write down some notes that I can come back to next time.
Sauce:
Pasta:
Sauce:
- Heat up oil in a saute pan
- Add 2.5 tablespoons of brown sugar to the heated pan and wait until the sugar turns golden brown. If you overcook the sugar it'll turn bitter.
- Saute onions and garlic (onions before garlic because they take longer to cook) until you can smell the aroma of the onions and they turn translucent
- Add the ground beef at medium low heat and mash it thoroughly while cooking to make sure that it turns out soft and moist
- Add two tablespoons of soy sauce
- Add mushrooms and other vegetables over low heat
- Drain oil from pan. Add store-bought spaghetti sauce
Pasta:
- Boil water in a large pot
- Add pasta and salt (see below)
- Test the firmness of the pasta periodically to assess completeness (aldente = a little firm)
- Once the pasta is done cooking, drain and douse with cold water to stop the cooking
