Basa Recipe?

I've recently been buying basa from the supermarket, mostly because my choices are limited there and basa is the cheapest. Basa is a type of catfish with white, flaky flesh and a very mild taste. I've never cooked or had it before, but this recipe I've been modifying from allrecipes.com has been pretty decent and very simple to make. Ingredients: 4 basa fillets 1/8-1/4 cup of honey 3 tablespoons of Dijon mustard 1.5 tablespoons of mayonnaise  2 tablespoons of olive oil 1 tablespoon of lemon juice Preheat the oven to 450 ˚F Mix mustard, mayonnaise, olive oil, honey, and lemon juice together in a separate bowl Coat the basa fillets in the sauce and lightly season them with black pepper, garlic powder*, thyme and parsley.  Wrap the fillets in aluminum foil and stick them in the oven until they fragment easily when poked with a utensil (15-20 min) I like this method of cooking that wraps the fish in the aluminum foil because it keeps the fish nice and moist ...

What am I Watching? (Anime Spring 2019)

Image
One Punch Man (Second Season) I'm pretty excited to see the second installment of OPM. A lot of people in the anime community seem to be hoping to see the production of this show fail because the bar was set so high by the first season, the animation studio changed, the director changed, and the content being covered is not as exciting; however, I think that especially for a series like OPM, it is possible to still enjoy it while accepting all of these points. Even if the production quality isn't that great (I mean, ONE's art is horrible), its humor and colorful cast of characters are what truly make this series unique. It's also been bothering me that some critics of the show call it boring because of Saitama's overwhelming power, however these critics should keep in mind that OPM is a parody and that this series is so successful precisely because of this fact. I really love the characters and the premise of the series so I'll be eagerly following the e...

Media Bias Chart (v. 4.0)

Image
Especially given the plethora of news sources that have been birthed by the rise of social media and the ease of access/communication, its become increasingly important that we as news consumers take care in properly educating ourselves on which of these news sources are credible and make sure that we are aware of each of their respective biases. The most important quality is to ensure that articles are parsed for facts and to draw your own opinions and conclusions from them. In this post I'll mostly be talking about the media bias chart published (most recently in August 2018) by ad fontes media, the (first?) most popular rendition of such a news source bias ranking system that I have come across. So let's jump right into it, everyone. The Media Bias Chart Compiled by ad fontes media , this media bias chart (pictured below), categorizes the most popular  news sources relevant to residents of the United States by partisan bias and accuracy of reporting. Several sub-charts ...

Another Eden

I recently picked up Another Eden, a story-based and artistic JRPG mobile game that follows the adventures of Aldo as he searches for his sister, Faye, through the annals of time. I was initially very impressed with the movement, which is extremely fluid compared to other mobile games that I've played that have an overworld component. The story is also quite well-written with mildly interesting dialogue interspersed with humor. I thought the prologue of the game was most enjoyable because you had to talk to all of the NPCs to find the "quests", which would be small tasks such as playing hide-and-seek with a village child and finding a replacement for a little girl's balloon. This component of the story is largely eliminated in the subsequent chapters of the story, however, with the introduction of quest markings and prompts. I thought it was a nice touch that they allowed you to choose the result of your first gatcha roll among a selection of 4 star characters. Th...

Spaghetti

The spaghetti that I made today turned out pretty good (although I added a bit too much salt to the pasta ToT) so I thought I'd write down some notes that I can come back to next time. Sauce:  Heat up oil in a saute pan  Add 2.5 tablespoons of brown sugar to the heated pan and wait until the sugar turns golden brown. If you overcook the sugar it'll turn bitter.  Saute onions and garlic (onions before garlic because they take longer to cook) until you can smell the aroma of the onions and they turn translucent Add the ground beef at medium low heat and mash it thoroughly while cooking to make sure that it turns out soft and moist Add two tablespoons of soy sauce  Add mushrooms and other vegetables over low heat Drain oil from pan. Add store-bought spaghetti sauce Pasta: Boil water in a large pot  Add pasta and salt (see below) Test the firmness of the pasta periodically to assess completeness (aldente = a little firm) Once the pasta is done c...
